United Methodist Women (UMW)
United Methodist Women provides opportunities and resources for women to grow spiritually, become more deeply rooted in Christ and put faith into action.
Our Vision statement is “Turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world.”
First UMC Palestine has two circles that meet on the second Tuesday for nine months of the year (Sept – May). The WE Study Group meets at Noon in the Parlor and the Lydia Circle meets in various locations (usually in member’s homes or the Carroll Building).
General Meetings of UMW are held four times a year (March, May, October and December) in the Fellowship Hall. All funds raised by UMW support local, national and international missions.
In this ministry, church members prepare and serve meals to those who have experienced a recent death in their family. Meals are provided at the church before or following the funeral or they can be delivered to the family’s home. This ministry is implemented by both the women and the men of the church.
This sewing/crafting group of community ladies meets on the first Monday of each month, year round, in the Carroll Building. Participants can work on individual projects or can join in group projects.
Through this ministry, three quilts have been made and raffled to help support special projects at the church.
Members of our church knit or crochet shawls and lap blankets at home and deliver them to the church for distribution to those in need. A special prayer is said over each item while being made and before being delivered to the person in need.
